Hydroseeding and Erosion Control

Hydroseeding is one of the most effective soil erosion control methods for residential and commercial properties. Moreover, due to its uniform approach utilizing high-pressure hydraulic dispensing, it is considered superior to other methods like sod or regular seeding, especially for larger areas of land.

The process is also often called hydromulching or hydraulic mulching and has  proven itself to be an effective and cost-conscious solution for seeding everything from residential lawns and new yards to hillsides and landscapes. You'll often see El Dorado County construction projects finishing off with the hydroseeding of hillsides that surround roadways in Placerville, Southlake Tahoe, Shingle Springs, and Cameron Park to minimize erosion, ensure soil remains in place, and add an aesthetically pleasing landscape.

How does hydroseeding work?

Professional hydroseeding involves a truck-mounted or trailer-mounted tank containing a unique blend of specialized grass known as "slurry."

This slurry consists of a mixture of grass seeds, fertilizer, growth-promoting biostimulants, mulch, and water. Using hydraulic pressure it is applied to prepared land, such as lawns, slopes, hillsides, and landscapes.

Hydroseeding is unique because the slurry blend can be customized based on specific needs, such as local climate and other factors. For instance, different seeds with beneficial traits can be used to address issues like drought, heat tolerance, and disease resistance. The mulch in the slurry helps bind the seeds to the soil, preventing damage from factors like wind and sunlight.

Unlike other methods, hydroseeding produces rapid and uniform growth within one to three weeks, eliminating patches and gaps found in regular seeding or sod.
